Fight Stigma
What is stigma?
Isolation. Discrimination. Shame. Embarrassment. Often one of the biggest challenges people with mental illnesses face is stigma. Stigma prevents people from seeking help. It restricts resources from being allocated to the most critical needs – programs for people with serious mental illness, intensive treatment, co-occurring disorders, supported or transitional housing, legal assistance and more. And it discourages families and friends from lending their support.
NAMI Buffalo & Erie County along with NAMI National is committed to eliminating stigma.
